Children's Privacy Notice

Who This Notice Covers

The Personal Professor's tutoring services are available to students of many ages, including minors. Parents and guardians may provide information about their children to us in order to request or administer tutoring services on the child's behalf.

Our COPPA Commitment

If we knowingly collect personal information online directly from a child under 13 in a situation covered by COPPA, we will provide the parent or guardian with the direct notice COPPA requires and obtain verifiable parental consent before that covered collection begins, where consent is required.

A parent or guardian providing information to us about a child does not, by itself, constitute blanket consent for all of that child's future online activities — any consent we rely on covers the specific collection and use it was given for.

Online Accounts & the Professor's Portal

If we knowingly provide an online account or other online service directly to a child under 13 — for example, through a future Professor's Portal — and that service collects personal information in a situation covered by COPPA, we will provide the required notice to the parent or guardian and obtain any required verifiable parental consent before that covered collection begins.

Enrolling in tutoring, on its own, does not constitute blanket consent for all future Portal processing involving a child under 13 — any consent we rely on for Portal-related collection covers the specific collection and use it was given for.

Information We May Need

Depending on the services requested, we may need information such as:

• Student's name
• Age category (for example, grade level)
• Grade level or expected graduation year
• Parent or guardian contact information
• Academic information supplied by the family
• Diagnostic responses and scores
• Assignments and other work product
• Tutoring-related communications
• Attendance and progress information
• Account or technical information reasonably needed to provide our services

About Date of Birth

We do not routinely collect a student's full date of birth as part of our standard intake or tutoring process.

How We Use This Information

We use this information to:

• Assess the student's educational needs
• Personalize tutoring and instruction
• Schedule and administer services
• Communicate with parents and guardians about progress
• Maintain educational and account records
• Support the safety and security of our services
• Improve the quality of our services
• Comply with legal obligations

Data Minimization & Retention

We collect only information reasonably necessary to provide and administer the educational service, maintain safety and security, communicate with families, and satisfy legitimate legal and operational needs. We do not condition a child's participation on the child providing more personal information than is reasonably necessary for the activity or service.

Children's personal information is retained only as long as reasonably necessary for the specific educational, operational, safety, or legal purpose for which it was collected. After that, we take reasonable steps to securely delete or de-identify it, unless continued retention is required by law.

Sharing

We share student information internally with the tutors and staff directly involved in that student's program, and with service providers who help us operate our services (for example, scheduling or communication tools), under confidentiality and data-protection expectations appropriate to that information. We do not sell children's personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.

Recordings & Public Use

Whether a tutoring session is recorded, and how any recording may be used, is governed separately by the choice a parent or customer makes in the Enrollment Agreement — not by this Notice. Public or promotional use of an identifiable student's name, image, photograph, video, voice, testimonial, recording, or student work product requires separate, specific permission beyond enrollment itself.

Parent and Guardian Rights

Parents and guardians may ask us about the information we've collected about their child, request that we review or correct it, request deletion where applicable, or withdraw consent for covered collection going forward (which may limit our ability to continue providing services that depend on that information). To make any of these requests, contact us using the information below.
